Mindful Revisited

from £100.00

I created Mindful Revisited to capture a deeply personal and transformative moment, one where a man makes the conscious, brave choice to walk away from a troubled past, and to step forward into a life filled with greater hope, purpose and peace. Every part of this piece was designed to tell that story clearly and emotionally. His posture, seated yet alert, relaxed yet focused, shows he has found a moment of stillness after struggle, while his gaze turned firmly away from what lies behind, and directed towards the warm, glowing light of the window, acts as a powerful visual symbol. That direction represents his deliberate decision to leave behind hardship, regret, pain and all the difficulties that once defined him, and to look only towards new possibilities, second chances and a brighter future waiting ahead.

I chose this soft, sunlit interior setting intentionally, to create a feeling of safety, calm and clarity, a space where reflection and change can truly happen. The warm, gentle light flooding the scene was painted to feel like clarity itself, a contrast to the darkness and confusion of the life he has left behind, and a reminder that new beginnings are always within reach. Through bold, expressive brushwork and rich, saturated colours, vivid magenta, bright azure and warm golden tones, I wanted to convey the strength, energy and courage required to let go. The textured, painterly style gives the whole image a sense of movement and evolution, as if the figure, and his life, are still shifting, growing and becoming something better.

Every detail, from the way his body rests easily yet with purpose, to the soft, neutral tones of the walls and surroundings that keep the focus entirely on his journey, was carefully considered. I wanted to show that leaving the past behind is not about forgetting, but about releasing what holds you back, finding inner strength, and choosing to move forward with intention and hope. This piece is not just a portrait of a man, it is a portrait of resilience, of the human ability to change, and of the quiet, powerful victory of choosing a better life. It is about understanding that our history does not have to be our future, and that with courage and mindfulness, we can always rewrite our own story.
