About the Artist

Mark Campbell‑Blake (maccb71Art)

From Accountant to Digital Artist

I’m Mark Campbell‑Blake, the artist behind maccb71Art - a Cardiff‑based digital creator exploring the emotional, psychological, and sensory threads that shape how we see the world. My work sits at the meeting point of inner experience and outer landscape: the quiet pull of memory, the weight of emotion, the way a place can feel like a person and a person can feel like a landscape.

Every piece I create is hand‑drawn and hand‑painted digitally using an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. The tools may be modern, but the process is rooted in traditional craft: slow, intentional, layered, and deeply human. No AI. No shortcuts. Just hours of thought, observation, and the desire to translate feeling into form.

Why I Create

My art began as a way to make sense of the world - the physical world around me and the psychological world within. I’ve always been fascinated by the tension between the two: how a coastline can hold a memory, how a colour can carry an emotion, how a simple line can reveal something unspoken.

The landscapes I create are not just places; they’re emotional spaces. They’re invitations to pause, breathe, and reconnect with something familiar — a moment, a memory, a sense of belonging.

My psychology‑inspired pieces come from lived experience. They explore the invisible threads that bind us: vulnerability, resilience, connection, and the quiet complexities of being human. These works don’t tell you what to feel; they ask you to interpret, reflect, and find your own meaning.

How My Art Is Made

Every artwork begins with a spark - a scene, a feeling, a moment of clarity. From there, the process unfolds slowly:

  • a precise outline

  • a fine line drawing

  • a detailed greyscale rendering

  • a carefully chosen colour palette

  • layers of tone, light, and emotion

Sometimes I sketch on location. Sometimes I work from lived memory. Sometimes I draw from live video sessions with models. But the goal is always the same: to create something that feels alive, intentional, and emotionally honest.

Digital art is often misunderstood as quick or artificial. My work is the opposite - deliberate, crafted, and deeply personal. Every piece is the result of human hands, human thought, and human emotion.

What I Want My Art to Do

I want my art to spark imagination, create conversation, and invite connection. Whether you’re drawn to the serenity of a coastal town or the complexity of the human psyche, I hope my work gives you a moment of recognition — that quiet feeling of “yes, I know this.”

Art should make you feel something. Art should make you think. Art should make you pause.

If my work does any of those things for you, then it has done its job.

Limited Editions & Craftsmanship

All artworks are limited to a run of 100 pieces or fewer unless otherwise stated. Each print is produced to order, overseen personally by me, and shipped directly. A Certificate of Authenticity is sent separately.

This isn’t mass‑produced art. It’s personal. It’s crafted. It’s meant to be lived with.
