Freefall

When I created Freefall, my intention was to capture that precious, vital moment when you can finally let go, breathe deeply and allow peace to wash over you. For many in the LGBTQ+ community, life often brings extra pressures, expectations or struggles, emotions that can build up and weigh heavily on the mind and heart. I wanted to show how it feels to step away from all that, to find a space where you are safe, calm and completely at ease with yourself.

The central figure sits relaxed and unguarded, perched on natural rocks as vibrant water cascades down beside him. The waterfall is more than a beautiful scene here, it is a powerful symbol of release. Just as water flows freely and carries everything away with it, so too does this soothing energy wash away stress, worry and emotional tension. The colours burst with brightness and warmth, blending together in soft, flowing waves that echo both the movement of the water and the whole spectrum of identity and pride. There is no rush here, no demand to be anything other than exactly who you are.

The title Freefall speaks to that feeling of surrender, of letting yourself fall into a state of calm, trusting that you are held and supported, just as the rocks hold the figure in place. It represents the freedom to put down your guard, to rest, and to let your true self simply be. This piece is about healing, about finding peace within and about knowing you deserve moments of pure, uncomplicated joy and relaxation.
