In Favourite Number, I wanted to bring Yuuto back into a completely different light, trading the open shoreline for the intense, moody atmosphere of a bodybuilding stage. This piece is my own playful twist on the traditional competition entrant, blending the raw discipline of the sport with a touch of romantic charm.
The inspiration here is deeply personal. Yuuto is wearing the number 9, which has always been my favourite number due to its fascinating mathematical properties. There’s a certain perfection and recursion to 9 that I find incredibly satisfying, and I wanted to weave that logic into the visual narrative. It felt right to pair that "perfect" number with the peak physical form of a "gentle giant" like Yuuto.
I’ve leaned into a rich, crimson palette to evoke both the passion of the romantic theme and the high-energy heat of the spotlight. By stripping away the usual background noise and focusing on the play of light over his muscles, I’m trying to celebrate the sheer artistry of the human body. From the formal bow tie to the heart-patterned trunks, it’s a study in contrasts: power and softness, rigid discipline and lighthearted affection. This painting is really about finding the beauty in the numbers and the strength in the sentiment.
